About us
At Luma we believe coffee shops are the new temples of our age where communities are built and inspiration is found.
That's why we created a brand seeking to elevate the experience by offering a selection of top notch products that provide meaning, both for coffee lovers and not coffee lovers, during the day and after work.
A short history of cafés...
In the wake of the Enlightenment, so-called “intellectual cafés” were born to host thinkers, artists, and visionaries. From the early 20th century, cafés became the new hot spots for curious and stylish minds, like Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir who would meet at the legendary Café de Flore.
It is this lineage that inspires Luma to enhance and imbue with meaning the café experience: a place that nourishes the inner curiosity as much as the art of living.
In Geneva - city of the Reformers, of Rousseau and Voltaire - the visionary legacy of the Enlightenment remains omnipresent. That's why we are reinventing an ancient model in this beautiful town to adapt it to our times, with the aim of captivating the curious from all over the world.
The name Luma refers to light and to the inspiring spirit that emerged in that era. Necker Street, a historic address named in homage to Jacques Necker, a Genevan figure of the Enlightenment, was the perfect location to launch this project.
